Kate is the Acting Head of Research and Knowledge Transfer Services. In this role she is responsible for the management of the department.
Resume
Kate graduated from the University of Exeter with a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry (1994) and a PhD in Materials Chemistry (1998). Following a period as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Surrey, Kate moved her research career to industry, where she also managed the analytical laboratory service for group companies and clients of a global Industrial Minerals business. In 2001, Kate joined Cardiff University as a Research Development Officer and gained much valuable experience whilst assisting researchers to develop multi-disciplinary research proposals, collaborative and commercial opportunities; specialising in the management, assessment and exploitation of intellectual property in the Chemical and Pharmaceutical sectors. In 2005, Kate moved to the University of Southampton, where she was appointed as a Contract Manager with responsibility for negotiating research, clinical trial and consultancy contracts on behalf of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences. Kate joined the University of Portsmouth, being appointed to the post of Contracts & IPR Manager, in January 2007. In February 2012 she took up the position of Acting Head of Research and Knowledge Transfer Services.
