Profile

The role of Research Manager is to develop and manage the implementation of the University's policies and procedures relating to Research.

The key responsibilites of the role are to manage and coordinate the University's submission to the Research Excellence Framework and to respond to any similar assessment of Research.  To manage the University Research and KT Committee and the University Ethics Committee and to inform on policy development and implementation; To advise and liaise with central services and all faculties on matters regarding research policy.

Resume

Denise graduated from Aston University in 1992 with a BSc (Hons) degree in French and Society & Government. After teaching English in both France and Japan and then working in administration for a spin-out company of City University London, she joined the University's original Research Office in 1996 primarily to advise academic researchers on EU R&D Funding. She was promoted to manager and has since worked with three Directors of Research and coordinated the University's RAE submissions in 2001 and 2007, as well as having been seconded to HEFCE as an RAE Panel Secretary.
