Profile
The role of the Senor Contracts Officer is to support the Contracts and IPR Manager in all aspects relating to research and (teaching and research led) knowledge transfer contracts with the objective of assisting in securing external funding and collaborative opportunities, whilst avoiding exposure of the University to unnecessary risks. This role therefore involves close liaison with the Finance Department and academic Faculties/Department in order to balance commercial and academic interests and to minimise financial and legal risks to the University whilst ensuring that agreed contract terms are compatible with the University's strategy for publication and use of results in further research and teaching.
Resume
Wendy graduated at the University of Kent at Canterbury in 1984 with a BA (Hons) degree in European Studies (German). After working for Cologne Trade Fairs at the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce, selling exhibition space to stall holders, followed by a spell working for the Editor of the Institute of Petroleum's monthly journal, she joined Imperial College London in 1990 working as an Office Manager in the Industrial Liaison office, where one of her roles was to calculate royalty payments from inventions. For the last thirteen years, she has worked in the Faculty of Medicine's Research Services Office, with the main responsibility of negotiating research contracts with a variety of different non commercial and commercial sponsors, including clinical trials with pharmaceutical companies. Wendy joined the University of Portsmouth as Senior Contracts Officer at the end of July 2008.
