Since February 2017, I have worked in teaching and research at the School of Civil Engineering & Surveying, University of Portsmouth. I obtained an MSc (Land Surveying) from Helsinki University of Technology in 1994, and a PhD (Geography) from Utrecht University in 2002. After that, I worked for OTB Research Institute for Housing, Urban and Mobility Studies, Delft University of Technology; the Norwegian University of Science and Technology – NTNU; and Oxford Brookes University. I am an Associate Expert of the United Nations Economic Commission For Europe (UNECE) Working Party on Land Administration (WPLA), the Real Estate Market Advisory Group (REM) since 2010.
My main duties relate to the undergraduate course in Property Development. More generally, I am prepared to contribute to the delivery of teaching at all levels and I have a wide remit: from real estate economics to urbanism and planning, including research methods and methodology.
The area of my research covers strategic urban real estate issues such as market structure and dynamics, valuation, sustainability, urban renewal, resilience, and innovations, as well as related spatial development and planning issues. I have over 70 scientific publications and I have presented in c. 100 academic meetings.
