Further Forces: Information for employers
The Further Forces Programme is designed to support ex-Armed Forces service personnel who have recently left their Ministry of Defence (MoD) positions and are seeking exciting opportunities in Further Education & Training.
Working with Further Forces teachers
If you are an FE training provider interested in teachers with proven skills in critical thinking, team work, communication, self-motivation, organisation, initiative and flexibility, the Further Forces Programme could work for you. We have a cohort of service personnel who are developing as teachers and trainers for the FE sector, particularly within science, engineering and technology.
Are you able to offer:
- Employment opportunities, either full time or 0.8 full time equivalent?
- Workplace visits?
- Work shadowing?
Please register your interest. You will then be contacted with further details of the programme.
About the programme
The University of Portsmouth (School of Education and Childhood Studies) is responsible for ensuring a high quality PGCE and Cert Ed programme that will be completed by trainees who successfully complete the Transition into teaching training programme and who hold the necessary qualifications and experience to become outstanding FE teachers. The University of Brighton will be providing trainees with cutting-edge on the job mentoring using their highly successful ONSIDE programme.
Launched on 24th July 2017, the Further Forces initiative is commissioned by the Education & Training Foundation (ETF), and is sponsored by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation as part of their vision to further enhance teaching and learning in the rapidly expanding STEM sector.
