Professionally accredited courses
We are Enhanced Academic Partners of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in recognition of over 25 years of continuous professional accreditation. We also offer courses which are accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED).
Our students have access to state-of-the-art experimental and computational facilities, as well as expert technical support staff. We have invested heavily in our facilities so that you can put the knowledge you gain from our courses into practice.
Every year, hundreds of engineering students showcase their final projects to employers and industry experts as part of our Student Projects Open Day. The best projects are awarded prizes which are sponsored by leading engineering and technology companies including BT, Cisco, DSTL, IET, HP, Pall Europe and Xyratex.
A year in industry
Over 50% of employers actively recruit graduates who have relevant work experience. So, taking an optional yearlong placement is an excellent way to get ahead in the job hunt. Our Student Placement and Employability Centre (SPEC) is dedicated to setting your career on the right course.
The Maths Café is a daily drop-in facility, available to any student of the University where you can receive help on any maths or stats problem you encounter in your studies. We also provide handouts on key topics and computer aided learning packages.
