Exploring unmanned and autonomous technologies
We're fascinated by every aspect of unmanned and autonomous technology, from the fundamentals of design, construction and operation to the many applications - and implications - for the use of drones.
The drone competition team gives engineering students the opportunity to apply classroom and lab-based learning to live projects by designing, manufacturing and testing our own Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) or Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS).
In the future, we're planning to engage with some of the many engineering competitions for drone developers, such as the UAS Challenge which was established in 2014 by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).
This student-led initiative also helps to develop skills in leadership, project management and teamwork. Extracurricular activities supplement your degree studies and broaden your knowledge - which is appealing to prospective employers.
