Biography

I trained at the Glasgow School of Radiography undertaking clinical studies at Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary, Western Infirmary Glasgow, Glasgow Dental Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Sick Children Glasgow.

My first post was as Locum Radiographer at the Sir Patrick Duns Hospital in Dublin. I moved back to Scotland and took up a Radiographer position in Monklands Hospital, Airdrie. Whilst I was working there I gained my BSc (Hons) in Psychology with the Open University. In 2001 I was offered a Senior Radiographer post at St Mary’s Hospital in Portsmouth. Following my Postgraduate Certificate in Gastro-Intestinal Imaging I was promoted to Advanced Practitioner and undertook barium enemas and CT colonography. Other specialities were coronary arteriography and Link Radiographer for University of Portsmouth students.

I joined the University in 2008. I co-ordinate the Hong Kong exchange programme for Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiography students. I am the Academic Link Tutor for Diagnostic Radiography students at Southampton General Hospital and the Royal South Hants Hospital, Southampton. I am the Admissions Tutor for Radiography.

Teaching Responsibilities

I teach on the BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography and BSc (Hons) Therapeutic Radiography courses, my main subject being anatomy and physiology of the gastro-intestinal tract. I also teach on the Medical Imaging Modalities unit and supervise 3rd year projects from the Developing Project Skills unit.
