I graduated as diagnostic radiographer from the University of Portsmouth in 2006, gaining experience in Portsmouth, Basingstoke and Southampton hospitals. I began my clinical career locally, working as a general radiographer.

In February 2010 I began training in ultrasound and completed a MSc in Medical Ultrasound at King’s College London in August 2012. I am qualified to undertake obstetric, gynaecological, general abdominal and small parts ultrasound.

I joined the University of Portsmouth as a senior lecturer in January 2014. During the same year I undertook a course of study through the University of Portsmouth to enable me to become a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, which I was awarded in January 2015. I hold an honorary contract with Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, where I undertake regular clinical sessions to maintain my clinical competency.

Teaching Responsibilities

My major role is within the radiography department where I am involved in teaching on thirteen units at levels four, five and six on both BSc (Hons) Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiography courses and am unit co-ordinator for two level four units and one level six unit.

I am a personal tutor and act as academic link between the students and clinical staff at one of our clinical placement sites.

In addition, I deliver sessions on the BSc (Hons) Health Physics and BSc (Hons) and FdSc Paramedic Science courses.
