Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman completed his first degree (2004) and masters (2005) in Economics from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. After that, he studied MSc in Economics and Econometrics (2009) at the University of Manchester, UK. He finished his PhD in economics from the University of Manchester, UK, in 2014 and then gathered ten months post-doc experience in Economics Division at the University of Stirling, UK. Before going to the UK, he had three years of experience as a research associate in Bureau of Economic Research, Department of Economics, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Since his first job in Bangladesh, he has been doing research using household survey data, which includes cross section, repeated cross section, panel and pseudo panel, and time series data.
In general, his research interests include Environmental Economics, Program Evaluation, Intra-Household Behaviour, Political Economy, Labour Economics, Development Economics, Macroeconometric Modelling, Domestic Violence, Corruption, Migration, Poverty and Inequality, and Returns to Education. However, his current research involves applications of Regression Discontinuity Design.
In this job, he is involved in a health research where the effects of demand side financing will be examined on maternal and child health in developing countries.
