Biography

Having studied English in France, I went to Northern Ireland to work as a Language Assistant and forgot to go home at the end of the year. Being passionate about languages, literature and culture, I studied for an MA in French and European Studies at Queen’s, Belfast, and specialised in fin-de-siècle literature for my doctoral thesis. I taught French language at Queen’s for 8 years, and then worked as a School Librarian in Derry. After the birth of my third child, I became a full time freelance translator and developed a passion for translation. I have been working at the University of Portsmouth since 2012 teaching French language and translation at various levels. I also coordinate the Year Abroad for all 4-year programmes at SLAS.
