The Centre for Performing Arts is within the multidisciplinary School of Media and Performing Arts and it is the home of the performing arts disciplines at the University of Portsmouth.

The Centre for Performing Arts focuses on both performance and research and hosts the two courses BA (Hons) Drama and Performance and BA (Hons) Musical Theatre. These courses strike a balance between theoretical approaches and practical training while at the same time equipping students with skills that are applicable to a range of careers both within and beyond the creative industries. The 200 undergraduate students also perform at the adjoining New Theatre Royal, a prestigious national theatre.

The practical strand of the Centre for Performing Arts produces the Actors and Singers Showcase, which offers an opportunity to selected graduates to work in the acting and singing industries.
