After gaining my BA (Hons) in English and Critical Perspectives, I did a one-year study in Historical Research Methodology before embarking on my PhD in the field of Autobiography. I began teaching on an English Literature degree before moving to teaching on combined honours English & Film Studies and to Film Studies. My specialist subjects are Literary Adaptations, English and Film theory, in particular psychoanalytic theory from a film historian perspective. I am interested in interdisciplinary approaches to research.

I have for the past 3 years been concentrating my research interests into British Cinema with a particular focus on literary adaptations. In this connection i have received three research funding awards to firstly (with a research assistant) compile data for a website on British literary adaptations. This is in the process of being formed into a searchable, web database that covers British Literary Adaptations from 1895-2013. Linked to this is my monograph to be published by Palgrave.
