It is ironic that, as the need for new development to meet the unsatisfied demand for residential and commercial property has steadily increased, it is said to have become increasingly difficult to get planning permission. This course helps practitioners to understand what can now be done as permitted development, and how to get permission on application, dealing with the added complexities of the Community Infrastructure Levy and planning obligations. It provides a thorough update, has a strong practical emphasis and is illustrated by detailed case studies.

The course covers:

  • householder permitted development
  • permitted development for commercial property
  • working with the rules and restrictions of the General Permitted Development Order
  • pre-application negotiations
  • planning applications, supplementary information requirements and fees
  • planning obligations and the Community Infrastructure Levy
  • case studies
