The Order of Things 17

Serpentine

A multi stranded project in sound, graphics and temporary intervention, partnering with Candoco Dance, The New Theatre Royal Portsmouth, The School of Environmental and Earth Sciences and Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries at the University of Portsmouth.

The project takes the paralympic values of courage, determination, inspiration and equality to openly provoke discussion and conversation around “hidden disability” and the ethos of “pushing boundaries” both personal, geological and social.

The project weaves autobiographical experiences and challenges of living with Dyslexia and aspergers and how he personally relates to the 2012 games by using geological metaphor to challenge participant’s views of disability and personal achievement. Outcomes include large vinyl wall pieces, subverted geological printed material and a CD of sound created from ‘treated’ microscope slides.
