Our Objectives

European Awards for Languages 2004

Academic

  • Encourage students to develop foreign language learning at the highest possible level
  • Enable students to learn and develop new vocabulary and expressions
  • Encourage and facilitate learning of a variety of writing styles
  • Recognise students' talents and learning at this level, which are not recognised through compulsory academic assessments
  • Encourage creativity and students' active participation
  • Inspire and motivate lower grade students, particularly new ones (years 1 and 2)

Institutional

  • Encourage multi-disciplinary collaboration amongst various professionals within and outside the university (lecturers, writers, etc)
  • Encourage collaboration between all the language departments
  • Encourage collaboration between different Schools of the University
  • Raise the School's and the University's profile by showing the achievement of its students/graduates
  • Make use of the University's printing and web facilities
