FdA Government (e-learning)
Degree in Government - International versions
In December 2006, the British National School of Government (NSG) invited the University of Portsmouth to deliver a degree in government, aimed at improving the skills of public administrators working in the British Civil Service. The degree was to be a direct response to the Government's Reform Agenda including the Professional Skills for Government (PSG) initiative. You can read more about PSG for below grade 7 by downloading the summary document.
The University worked in partnership with the NSG to ensure that the degree would enable it to develop closer working relationships with government as an employer, developing PSG into something that would make a significant contribution to the Reform Agenda and set new standards for learning and development in the public sector. The degree was successfully launched in February 2008. It aims to develop the skill base of public administrators working in a climate of a reforming, modernising government; in this respect, with some adaptation to take account of local context, it has international application.
