Study Abroad
Practical information
Accommodation
Information about our University accommodation, private accommodation and lodgings can be found here. Please note - you cannot apply for a place in our Halls of Residence until you have received an official acceptance letter.
Students coming to study at the University of Portsmouth as an Erasmus student (EU and non-EU students) must check the European allocation policy. Further information regarding allocation policies can be found here.
Adaptors
UK plugs have three flat pins, unlike the rest of Europe. Please ensure that you bring a UK adaptor plug with you for your laptop, hairdryer etc!
Climate
The weather in the UK is quite varied and changeable. Locals often carry both sunglasses and an umbrella! You can expect warm temperatures during the summer, but cooler than those on the continent. Winter is less severe in Portsmouth than the north of the UK, but we have had several days of snow each winter for the last three years. Please pack sensible clothing (or ask the Study Abroad/Exchanges Team for shopping advice on arrival!!)
