General Information
Popular and unpopular subjects
Of the information provided to staff via our main communication channels, we asked which subjects were the most and least popular.
Things you would like to hear more about:
- major projects – new buildings, departmental moves, building works
- policies and change – changes to the sector or regulations and their impact on staff
- University policies and committee minutes – in bullet points to explain decision rather than just publishing the minutes
- strategy and management views – current management agenda, information on important decisions, explanations of department restructures
"In general, at times, I feel we are not aware of changes"
Things you would like to hear less about, or at least have the option of not reading in detail:
- sport and social events
- environmental and security tips
- calls for research participants
"Googlemail for staff is much more important than pilates classes"
We will review the content of all information provided to staff and think of more effective and flexible ways to deliver the important and the not-so-important information. The suggestions for improvements to Communicator and all-staff emails will also address popular and unpopular content.
We will also suggest that policies and committee minutes are supported by a brief explanation of the content, so staff can better understand the changes and decisions made and the impact on them.
