What is working

From the online survey, 76 per cent of respondents use Staff Essentials as their homepage, and the most popular areas of the website are the Noticeboard, general Information, and the news and events lists.

What needs improving

Plenty of respondents felt the design could be more appealing, and that links to essential services could be more obvious. The news could be better categorised so staff can be more selective in what they choose to read (see also Popular and unpopular subjects). The search function could also be improved.

We will update Staff Essentials early in 2013, as part of the overall redesign of the University website, providing better links to services and some obvious categories of news so staff can scan quickly and choose what to read. We will also review the search function for the whole website to provide a better solution.
