Managing and monitoring research degree students
Time: 1.15pm - 4.15pm
Venue: The Graduate School, St Andrew's Court
This workshop will cover the main issues involved in recruiting, registering, managing and monitoring research degree students at the University of Portsmouth. Topics will include the supervisor’s role in handling enquiries from potential applicants, assessing applications, developing research proposals, admitting and enrolling students and getting the research programme started. The University’s procedures relating to monitoring students’ progress will also be outlined. Reasons for failure to progress will be discussed and strategies for overcoming difficulties will be outlined.
