Outline
To increase staff awareness of the importance of looking after the information held in the University; how to handle, protect and store all types of electronic and hard copy information including the legislative requirements for information handling.
The aims of the workshop are:
- To raise awareness of the types of information held by the University and the best ways to store and maintain information.
- To explain how the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000 impact the way we process information within the University.
- To show how to protect the electronic information and information systems within the University.
Learning Outcomes:
- To increase attendees’ understanding of the importance of information to the University
- To provide a greater awareness of the need to manage records effectively.
- To familiarise attendees with the relevant information governance legislation and its impact on our work
- To provide a basic understanding of the importance of information security and the contribution individuals can make to that.
