Jim Khan is a specialist colorectal and minimal access surgeon and is currently appointed as a consultant colorectal and laparoscopic surgeon at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust. He has published more than 30 papers in the field of colorectal and minimal access surgery and has presented widely at national and international meetings.
Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in the UK, with 35,000 cases per year and a lifetime risk of one in 20. Surgical resection is the most effective treatment for colorectalcancer but it is associated with considerable morbidity and significant mortality.
