Effective written feedback

Tue, Mar 23, 2010

Presenters: Martin Hampton
Time: 13.20 - 16.00
Venue: Nuffield Hall

DCQE presents an interactive workshop for all academic staff.

This workshop is for lecturers who mark work; it concerns written feedback, especially that given on students’ writing assignments.

The aim of the workshop is to suggest specific ways in which written feedback can be maximally useful to the student (by being meaningful and actionable), whilst remaining reasonable, in terms of time and other resources, for the marker. The focus will be on the language used in written feedback; the position and frequency of comments and other feedback symbols will also be addressed. Examples of efficient and effective practice will be available to take away.

The workshop will draw on delegates’ experiences, on authentic UoP ‘student voices’ on feedback and on the findings of a specially-conducted literature search on the subject.
