What's on
Support Green Portsmouth in your building
The University has committed to reduce carbon emissions by 30 percent by 2016. The Green Portsmouth campaign will soon be launched and we need passionate people to encourage staff to play their part, across all University departments and buildings, to reduce carbon emissions and energy costs.
We are seeking volunteers to become Green Champions. Are you passionate about reducing carbon and can you act as an ambassador for change in your department and building?
As a Green Champion we will ask you to:
- Support the Carbon Management Team (CMT) in promoting carbon reduction activities - distributing leaflets and posters and attending roadshows.
- Inform the CMT of activities in your building and making suggestions for further carbon reduction activities.
- Advise staff in your building on how to reduce carbon, in accordance with the Green Building Challenge.
- Promote the BIG Green Commuter Challenge in your building.
You will be asked to attend two or three meetings a year and to communicate with the CMT and with staff in your building on a regular basis. We would anticipate that commitment could be up to four hours per month, depending on time available and activities to be undertaken. The CMT in return will provide support, advice and training to volunteers.
Any member of staff may volunteer - support and academic – and no qualifications in the subject are required, however you will need the permission of your line manager to volunteer your time.
If you are committed to a Green Portsmouth, please contact greenportsmouth@port.ac.uk for more information and to volunteer.
