Biography

I joined Portsmouth Business School in May 2017 following a 30 year career as a navigator in the Royal Air Force, mainly in the ground attack role on the Tornado GR1 and GR4 but also flying F15E multirole fighters on exchange with the US Air Force in North Carolina. I established and commanded the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Test and Evaluation Squadron in 2008 and then commanded the Air Warfare School before being selected as the Chief of the Defence Staff's Scholar and Chief of the Air Staff's Fellow on the University of Exeter's inaugural MA Applied Security and Strategy, which I completed in 2014. I then spent 3 years working on policy and strategy in the UK Ministry of Defence, with a particular focus on the UK’s key bilateral and multilateral international relationships.

Away from work I enjoy mountain biking, hill walking, water sports and craft beer, and I am a qualified bicycle mechanic and wheel builder.
