I joined Portsmouth Business School in 2007 as a Senior Lecturer in Risk and Project Management. In 2008 I became Curriculum Director for the MSc Risk, Crisis and Resilience Management programme.
I have expertise in crisis management, resilience, risk perception, decision making in stressful situations and anti-terrorism. Currently I am actively enganged in research within these areas. Organisational learning, and the use of simulations as learning tools are a growing area of interest for me.
I have been involved with several projects to improve crisis and risk management within several Higher Education establishments and also SMEs. In addition, I have worked with Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service to develop an operational decision making training course for all BA crews and also with London Fire Brigade on the evaluation of Exercise Unified Response (EUR).
Crisis management, strategic risk, business continuity, research methods and anti-terrorism.
My PhD was in the area of crisis and anti-terrorism management, considering how conceptual approaches may help to improve resilience within organisations.
Current research areas focus on organisational learning, crisis management, risk perception, ethical leadership and resilience.
