Christmas went by very fast and now seems so far gone! Work has mounted on me this term and to be honest I’m not very pleased with my results. So far I have passed but not with flying colours, think it’s time to change that! I guess it’s true what they say; First Year is a bit of a doss compared to the rest and second year is a lot harder!

I’m still events organiser for Show Choir which is still keeping me busy. Our next event is a Valentines gig at the Fat Fox on the 12th of Feb which should be really good! Very proud of myself for organising that one – Hey, why don’t you come along? http://www.facebook.com/events/530546653642567/

But on top of all that I now also have FOUR group projects just this term! I stupidly put myself forward for being co-ordinator for one of them so I’m kind of in charge :/ That’s a lot of stress and work But with so many group projects it gets confusing who’s in which group and what your meant to find out. I think the best thing is to start now and do as much as I can while I have time. Also with groups is that everything takes longer as you have to clarify all ideas and thoughts with the rest of the team.

Boyfriend also takes up a lot of my time at the moment and I don’t feel like I’m using my time to its full potential so that’s something to add to the resolutions.

On the plus side – I don’t have any issues with housemates now. New Year, New Start!

Its a busy but Frantastic Life!

I apoligise for not writing much this term but it has been a crazy period for me.

Living in this student house has highlighted several problems. I am extremely far out from uni which makes it difficult and an effort to get in. The buses arent reliable so I guess Im getting fitter that way I dont get on with one of my house mates which has pushed me out a bit but it has also made me a very busy person.

Being events organiser for show choir is keeping me on my toes and Ive just signed myself up for coorindator for one of my uni projects so more stress. All my deadlines are due in the next week so Ive got little time to go over them and make them expectable if I want my first.

Lets just say theres alot in my head at the moment and remembering everything is turning out to be impossible. Paying bills and finance issues are common amongst students this term, money is being stretched and christmas present buying just doesnt help. Overall STRESSED! Bring on the three week christmas period!

Just Time to do a bit of advertising

Sunday 9th December – BAR 38 between 2pm – 5pm, Show Choir are performing some Christmas songs to spread the festive spirit! We are performing for READ Charity so please come on down and show your support.

Many Thanks!

Well, I love Pompey but I am a bit disappointed with the number of uni buses provided. Once every 20 minutes isnt really enough for us lot far out of the city centre. Living near to Fratton Park has highlighted it’s difficulties as well as its strengths. For example, I feel there are not enough buses for the amount of people, I can’t always get on in the mornings which is not fun when its raining! Why cant there be buses every 10 minutes in peak times? Also walking in is a new experience, we’re like walking traffic with the amount of students trekking it in.

However being away from the university centre always means that I have to be even more organised with my days and plan activities to do within my frees. Maybe it will help with my studies this year, as year two has stepped up a level. Only being back a couple of weeks and I have already found out that the work load has increased, but I kind of like it. Having stuff to do and being busy always makes life a bit more fun and interesting.

I have become Events Organiser of Show Choir this year, which is exciting as well as scary. The amount of responsibility is incredible but I also have to be organised and determined. At the moment I am organising a Christmas Event so stay tuned!

Along with Show Choir, I am also doing Rock Climbing, something new to me but good exercise and the people are lovely! I would recommend to freshers (well everyone actually) to get envolved with anything and everything. Give new things a go, you dont have to continue with them if your not enjoying it!

Second Year is here, I have just moved into my house (yesterday) and its been interesting. We have learnt alot in a small space of time. For me, I did it all on my own, I packed all my stuff over August, trying to decrease the amount of stress that comes with moving. I recommend planning and having time to sort everything out. I managed to get everything into boxes for easy packing and was even able to magically fit it all in my car and still see out the back – Bonus!

I was very proud of myself for sorting my life out and having a job over summer. Make sure you are prepared for the bills and costs this following year will bring. I live in a house with four of us but currently there is just two, so we have been left to live in a bit of mess. However with the right tools and attitude we have successfully cleaned up and survived! We even sorted Internet today so when the others move in, its gonna be like paradise haha.

Im looking forward to getting back into the Uni life, just curious to see how getting there and back goes. So glad there is a uni bus otherwise I’d have a half hour walk everyday

However I feel very lucky and privileged to be here, knowing that Im not paying the huge student loan the newbees are, and to have this house and this room, I did well.

Liquid Sunshine just isnt cutting it for me, I mean its Summer for goodness sake! However this nice long break is really chilling me out. I have a small job which is keeping me afloat for summer and allowing me to see as many people as possible. But I cannot wait until September! Moving into our new house, a fresh start at university, a time to really concentrate on what I want from life.

I am really missing the university lifestyle and being able to do what I want, when I want. Being at home outlines how easy it is to get around Portsmouth! I mean its flat and everything is within reach, at home, if you want to go anywhere you need a car and that costs money! Also parents – dont know if anyone else is having this problem but they are starting to drive me crazy! I’m 20 now and successfully feed and looked after myself fine for 9 months but since being home its like I have to go back to being a child again. The trick is to stay out of the house as much as possible

On another note, I wanted some help and to see how many people actually read this haha. I recently broke up with my “boyfriend” and Im really feeling the heartache at home. I guess you could say the distance was too much for us (well me anyway) anybody got any tips on how to deal with this pain or even how to win the guy back? Feel free to leave comments below

Well people tell me summer is here but I’m really not feeling it. I’m actually not enjoying my summer and I shall tell you why.

Before the end of first year, I met the most amazing guy and we started seeing each other, but it was terrible timing as now we have 3 months and 111 miles between us. It sucks so bad but what’s worse is that I have no job at home, I’ve looked but everywhere already has “6th formers for summer” which means no money. This leads to no holidays and going on facebook to see all my friends excited about their holidays isnt helping.

I wish I could fast forward time to September so I can go home to Portsmouth and be my old, confident, happy self again.

The worst part is I’m only living with one of them next year.

I guess thats why its a diffcult and strange time at the moment. No one really knows what the future holds. You just gotta hold on and enjoy the ride.

I find it amazing how people can come and go in our lifetimes. Ive noticed it more at uni because of the distance and the new friends you make. During my gap year I had a great small group of friends who I could always count on, but things changed and we lost contact. But nothing stays for long and we are all back in contact once again and are planning a reunion trip. I guess it shows who your real friends are. They tell me, a best friend is someone you dont have to talk to for a while but when you do its like you were never separated. I think I’ve finally found that. The odd text out of the blue always makes my day so I try and do the same to others.

Family is the same. Being at uni can sometimes feel like your on your own, whenever I feel this, I phone home to know they are still there. My Aunt is coming down this weekend and is taking me out for lunch and to buy me a birthday present, which I am very excited about! It’s nice to know, we’re not alone and people are thinking of us.

Another little thing that changes every mood is Music. I made a playlist on Youtube of all the songs I love and I recommend doing the same, especially during exam time. It really cheers me up and its always fun to belt out a song when your stressed – my flat mates must love me!

I currently love this song, What do you think?

Easter Break was amazing, I got to spend a week abroad with my parents and spend 2 weeks with my bestest friends. Coming back to uni was a bit of a challenge and a shock once I arrived.

I find it difficult to settle at uni, then go home for 3 weeks and vise versa. But this time was even harder, due to the amount of work I would be facing. I don’t know what it is about universities but they love to see you struggle. Not only do we have exams coming up, but all my deadlines are in the same week. That equals alot of stress and not enough time!

To be able to cope you have to make time. Im sure the pubs and clubs have noticed a decrease in student attendancy’s because everyone is in the same boat. However with my course, which I love, we are putting an event on next week on top of everything else. A 3 course meal and drinks with a theme has its challenges. So were squeezing planning in whenever we can and with 14 of us on the same project, its difficult to get everyone together.

But I like a challenge and that’s what uni is all about. Pushing you to give your best! Don’t give up because its hard, don’t search for excuses not to do it. Look for reasons why your in this position and bring out the positive! That way there is no fail.

Portsmouth is a beautiful city, especially when the sun is shining. The best place to be on those sunny days is Southsea common or the sea front. I went there today with my flat mate, Sian and we spoke about the last six months. Its interesting to see how much we have changed as people and how much our lives have adapted in such a short space of time.

I have developed as a person by being here, in confidence and experience. Life will throw many obstacles at you but its important to know, there is always a way around them. In the last 6 months, I have lived with people I never knew before, started a university course, joined Show Choir, found amazing friends and coursemates, secured my first house and moved away from home!

But there is still so much more I want to do! I feel like I’m not doing enough in my life and that Ive become a ‘lazy student’. But I am very lucky to even be able to say that. I live in a beautiful city, surrounded by amazing people and right now, Im exactly where Im meant to be. Can you say the same?
