I’ve been considering writing this post for a few days now but I think it’s about time I just get on with it. University brings up the issue of relationships on a fairly regular basis. Whether you’re about to leave home and have to decide what you and your partner from home are going to …read more
Sunshine, sunglasses & sunburn. Ouch.
Now that I’ve finished uni for the year I’ve got a couple of weeks to spare and I’ve been able to spend a lot of time in Portsmouth just chilling out and stuff. Portsmouth really is a beautiful place once you know your way around and chilling out in Ravelin Park or by Southsea Seafront …read more
“It’s the clichés that cause the trouble.”
This quote is from Jeanette Winterson’s Written on the Body, one of the books I wrote about in my Rewriting Literary History exam and, to me, it really rings true. In the novel it refers to love and love stories but I think in the real world you can relate it to just about anything, …read more
Deadlines!
For the first time at university I have finished most of my work early and handed it in with 5 days to spare! It feels good knowing that I’ve tried as hard as I possibly could have with it and no matter what grade I eventually get I know I’ll have done my best.
Good news!
All my hard work has paid off and The Galleon’s AGM last night I won the award for “Best Critic”. I’m so happy as I’ve put a lot of hard work into my writing and it looks like I should be able to get the Music Editor position in September! I’ve also handed in 2 …read more
Where did second year go?!
Times going so quickly! Adding to the stress of my workload, I went to the library this evening only to find they were having network problems and I couldn’t log even log on to a computer. It’s great that there’s so much IT support at the university but it’s a shame when the inevitable happens …read more
I hate to say they told me so.
I don’t want to sound like a patronising old woman and I certainly don’t want my parents to say “I told you so” but nowadays, at the grand old age of 21, I’d love to be able to tell my younger self to stop being so angsty about everything and to appreciate the good things …read more
The next Shakespeare? I doubt it.
But on the plus side, I feel pretty positive about my writing in general at the minute. Sometimes I feel a little bad about neglecting this blog, so I apologise to anybody who reads it as it may, from time to time, be lacking in new content. This Easter I have slightly felt as though …read more
My view on English Literature!
Inspired by Blake, I’ve decided I should probably write a little more in depth about the course I am studying in Portsmouth: English Literature. What do you actually do? Now, to start with the basics, this isn’t just a degree in books! There’s a lot more to it than just reading books and writing “I …read more
Productive procrastinating.
I’m not sure how I managed it, but I actually procrastinated in a productive way. I know I wasn’t writing my essay that’s due in next Wednesday but I did apply to be a Student Marketing Assistant next year and finished off the article I was writing for the NUS web site. Basically, the editor …read more
