Yes. That’s my dissertation deadline and it’s approaching a little too fast if you ask me. But in reality, I have to hand in a draft in 10 days, which means I have even less time to do it. Strangely enough, I feel quite calm about it and I will not analyse it further because …read more
About Maria
My name is Maria and I'm a Third Year Psychology student here at Portsmouth. I am an amature photographer. It allows for that little bit of creativity in my science-infected mind. I am also involved with University's Film & Photo Society as a Social Secretary. I procrastinate a lot, which means that this blog will be one of the ways to avoid doing my actual academic work. But hey, everybody needs a break from time to time, right? ;)Final year and the post-graduation plans.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everybody a very happy new year! In the Mayan history (yes, I’m really going for this…) end of a calendar doesn’t predict end of the world, but predicts big changes, so I pronounce the year of 2013, the Year of Change. Let’s all take this opportunity …read more
Christmas break.
So Christmas is finally here! I was really looking forward to the break, but when I think about how much work I need to be doing over the three suposedly free weeks, it makes me sad… The last week of term was busy, but I actually had a lot of fun. On Tuesday I did …read more
Dissertation.
I feel bad for not writing anything here for such a long time, but dissertation preparation took all my time. It’s all fun and games until you get to the 3rd year; that’s when the hard work really starts. I had the entire summer to come up with an idea for my dissertation, to re-think …read more
The Final Year
So here I am, a 3rd year Psychology student, about to start the work on my dissertation, and the next graduation at the University of Portsmouth will be MINE. The time really flies and you don’t realise until you get to the point where I am right now. A 3-year undergraduate course my seem like …read more
Trip to Romania
This post is dedicated to the little trip to Romania I took towards the end of August. The reason I think it’s relevant to this blog is that I was actually visiting a friend that I have met at University! Because my summer plans did not work out, my friend Maria offered to have me …read more
In retrospect: Shared student house
Going on last minute holiday slightly disturbed my already poor flow of writing (more about this in the next note), but I’m back on track and ready to tell you all about my experiences of living in a shared student house. They say that you never really know a person until you live with …read more
In retrospect: University halls
My summer plans did not work out, which left me with a lot of free time to think back about my experiences regarding student accommodation. Having been at University for two years, I’ve experienced living in both Uni halls and rented student house. In this post I will concentrate on student halls, as this is …read more
Let the summer begin.
I cannot describe that feeling, when you get back home and you know you don’t have to get back to revision straight away. The feeling when you know you can now do anything you want. It’s a great feeling. Yes, I’ve finished my exams, and hence officially finished Year 2. Getting through the exam period …read more
I am the student that saves up.
Yes. I save up. But let me explain. Believe it or not, but I do actually have a social life and I do go out. But I find ways to make it affordable. Orange Wednesdays. Free entry before 10pm. 2 for 1 deals on drinks. Why spend more if you can spend less? I was …read more
