What is e-intro?

e-intro is a new and exciting method of helping you to 'hit the ground running' when you arrive in halls.

The web based program will show you, as a student new to halls, information that is unique to you and the hall that you are allocated to.

Having access to secure webpages via a unique login name and password, you will navigate through a series of information modules on the following themes:

  • Welcome (How to use the program)
  • Meet the staff (Summary of key staff and their roles)
  • Your HEC fund (How damages are handled)
  • Health and safety (Essential duty of care issues)
  • Personal security tips (Specific items related to you and your halls)
  • Checking in (On-line Choice - arrival date and times + an arrival check-list)
  • Your halls contract (Understanding and printing off your personalised contract)

Plus Some optional modules

  • C-Shock (A new cultural awareness game)
  • Kitchen hygiene (Helpful hints & tips)
  • Being a good neigbour (This one speaks for itself)
  • Get active ! (Volunteering and the benefit to you)
  • Your carbon impact ( Yes! you can make a difference)
  • Still feeling anxious? (Let us help you some more!)

When does this happen?

Housing will send out accommodation confirmation to hall students with a separate e-induction letter late Aug when the majority will have confirmed their firm intentions to take a hall place.

The letter will detail: What the e-intro is, its value to you and how it can be accessed.

In an online instant, you will be able to:

Access your account on-line a few weeks prior to arrival with the username and password provided by housing.

You will work through web-based information modules answering check point questions in your own time at your own pace. You may revisit the modules as often as you wish. The modules will focus on the essential information necessary to help you through the first few weeks.

When the main modules are complete, you will be given access to the final ‘Check-in and Contract’ modules where you can:

  • Learn about essential contract terms
  • Make an on-line choice of arrival date and time options
  • Print off your personalised check list and contract (two copies) to bring with you on arrival.
