What is the ‘e-intro to House-Hunting' module?
‘e-intro to House-Hunting’ is an online resource offering you essential information on how to house hunt, with details and booking facilities for our various house hunting events being held throughout the summer.
‘e-intro to House-Hunting’ is a secure web-based program that you access via a unique login name and password. You are offered a series of information modules designed to teach you how to successfully house-hunt in the private sector and what is required of you when you rent a property.
The modules include:
- About Student Housing (general overview of our services)
- Your Housing Options (where to start and what we offer)
- House Hunting Guide (overview of areas and types of accommodation available)
- Shared Housing (legal & general information on living in this type of accommodation)
- Lodgings (legal & general information on living in this type of accommodation)
There are also a number of additional modules to support students while living in the city:
- C-Shock (a cultural awareness game)
- Being a good neighbour (helpful hints & tips)
- Being a good neighbour (how to live as part of the community)
The ‘e-intro’ site also links to a supporting social networking group, created and monitored by Student Housing. This site has been introduced to allow new students to chat to each other in a safe and secure environment in advance of coming to Portsmouth, and hopefully find housemates to meet up with and go house-hunting.
Who is it for?
The ‘e-intro to House-Hunting’ has been created for all new students to Portsmouth who have not been offered a place in halls of residence, or are choosing to enter directly the private sector. Student Housing will start sending out the house-hunting information packs to these students, with a unique login and password to access the ‘e-intro to House-Hunting’ program from the beginning of July 2011 onwards.
