You will really have the best of both worlds when living here; most of the University buildings are located in the heart of the city, while four miles of seafront is only a short walk away, great for spending your free time outside of lectures. Gunwharf Quays, the impressive harbour-side complex is also centrally located and a great place for shopping and entertainment.
It's easy to get around the city too; it is compact and flat making it great for walking or cycling. If you fancy traveling further afield, the harbour's ferry port offers a number of cross-channel ferry routes to France, Spain and the Channel Islands. Or closer to home, you can hop on the hovercraft or ferry to the Isle of Wight, home to the Isle of Wight Festival, great for a day out or a short break away. The city is also only 90 minutes to London by train and Southampton airport is also nearby, great for UK and European destinations.
