Care Leavers

Buttle UK Quality Mark The University of Portsmouth is proud to have been awarded the Buttle UK Quality Mark for care leavers. This Quality Mark demonstrates our commitment to ensuring those leaving care are supported in their application to higher education and throughout their time at university.

If you have ever been in care or looked after by a Local Authority you may be entitled to our additional support package which includes:

  • £1,500 bursary per year, for the duration of your course (that does not need to be repaid).
  • A Personal Support Finance Advisor who will be on hand throughout your time at University to provide support and guidance on your personal funding needs. Please visit the Student Finance Centre for more information.
  • A guaranteed place in Halls of Residence for three years, taking the stress away from finding accommodation.
  • A place in Halls of Residence throughout the holidays if needed (including the summer months).
