UCAS tariff 2017

About the new UCAS tariff 2017

A new UCAS points tariff will be in place for courses starting from September 2017. The tariff is based on the size of a qualification and the grades to calculate the total tariff points.

What is the difference between the 2016 and 2017 UCAS tariff points?

The tariff points for 2017 will appear to be lower than 2016, but this is only because the new UCAS tariff points are based on different, lower numbers. For example, a B grade at A level will be worth 40 points from 2017 onwards, instead of 100 points in 2016. Overall, you will still need to achieve to the same grades, whether that’s A Level, Scottish Highers, Scottish Advanced Highers or BTEC and other qualifications. However, the points allocated to AS qualifications have changed. For 2017 entry, AS qualifications will be worth 40% of an A level instead of 50%.
