Once you receive your results

What happens if I meet the conditions of my offer and Portsmouth is my Firm choice?

If you meet the conditions of your offer we will be delighted to confirm your place at the University. You will receive a confirmation email and we will send you a Welcome Pack, which contains all the information you need in order to join the University.

What happens if I meet the conditions of my offer and Portsmouth is my Insurance choice?

If you meet the conditions of your offer we will be delighted to confirm your place at the University. If your application at your Firm choice is unsuccessful, you will automatically become Firm with us. If this is the case, we will send you a Welcome Pack which contains all the information you need in order to join the University.

What happens if I fail to meet the conditions of my offer?

We will consider other aspects of your application to see if we are able to accept you onto the course. This may take a while so please be patient if you haven’t received a decision from us straight away. If we are unable to offer you a place on your chosen course it may be that we are able to offer you a place on an alternative course that is suited to your academic profile.

Why have I been offered a different course?

We may offer you a place on an alternative course if we have not been able to confirm your place on your chosen course. The course we offer you may not be related to the course you applied for, but will be based on the subject areas you have previously studied.

How do I accept the different course which has been offered?

If you applied through UCAS, log in to UCAS Track as soon as possible and accept your offer. If you applied to us directly, please email us at admissions@port.ac.uk and inform us of your decision.

What happens if I wish to decline a change of course offer?

If you applied through UCAS, log in to UCAS Track as soon as possible and decline your offer. You will then either be accepted at your insurance place or be entered into Clearing. If you applied to us directly, please email us at admissions@port.ac.uk and inform us of your decision.

What happens if I am unsuccessful and not holding a place at another institution?

You will automatically be eligible to apply through Clearing. Please find full details of the Clearing process on the UCAS website.

What happens if I want to be released from my UF place at Portsmouth?

You are committed to the University of Portsmouth if your status with us is UF. Please provide your full name and UCAS Personal ID Number and the reason why you would like to be released from your place at the University of Portsmouth. We will consider individual requests to be released, so please complete the online release request form.

What happens if I want to come to Portsmouth but you are my Insurance choice?

If you have met the conditions of your offer and the University of Portsmouth is your Insurance choice, the only way of becoming firm with us is if your Firm choice does not accept you. If you have met the conditions of your offer at Portsmouth and your Firm choice has not yet made a decision then you will need to ask them to notify UCAS that your application has been unsuccessful. If your Firm choice accepts you, you will lose your place at Portsmouth. Therefore the only way of receiving a place is through Clearing. If you would like to apply to us through Clearing you will need to ask your Firm choice to release you into Clearing, however this is a risk as we cannot guarantee you a place.

What happens if my offer is conditional on GCSE results or an award that is not sent to universities via UCAS?

We will not be able to confirm your place until you have met all outstanding conditions, therefore you should send your results to admissions@port.ac.uk as soon as they are available. We will accept scanned copies of your results, however please do not send originals.

What happens if I have special circumstances that affected the outcome of my results?

Email us at admissions@port.ac.uk, preferably before the results are published, and we will consider your case. Please note that you may be asked to provide evidence at a later date.

What happens if I have not received my results?

We will not be able to confirm your place until we have received all of your results. All results must be received at the University by the 31 August 2017. If we have not received your results by this date, your application may be withdrawn. Please email us at admissions@port.ac.uk if you will not receive your results by this date.

What happens if I am holding an offer for deferred entry and wish to come this year instead?

Your request will be considered on an individual basis. It will depend on whether we have vacancies available for the particular course on which you have been offered a place. Please contact us in writing by sending an email to admissions@port.ac.uk quoting your full name and UCAS Personal ID number.

How do I apply through Clearing?

If you are not holding a place at another institution by 1 July, you can apply for a place through Clearing. For more information on how the Clearing process works and how to apply, please visit our Clearing pages.
