The British Science Association is a charitable outreach organisation which aims to promote the public’s access to and engagement with science. The Hampshire and Isle of Wight branch has previously worked in joint projects with University members and is one of a large number of regional groups of volunteers.
The branch is now looking for new members to help put on science outreach activities in the area.
Previous events where University members have participated include Sci-Screen showings, where a film is shown in conjunction with an expert led debate on a related scientific topic, and science busking of exciting tricks and demos in the city centre.
There is no great imposition of time for those volunteering in the branches and members can be involved in all sorts of ways, from helping out with the organisation of events to actual face-to-face engagement with the public.
