Too much drink can turn a good night into a tragic disaster with potentially lethal consequences.
Why One Punch Can Kill?
In May 2005, Kyle Bartlett was fatally injured during a fight inside a bar on Guildhall Walk. His mother, Ann Bartlett is now campaigning to reduce alcohol-related violence in Portsmouth’s bars, pubs and clubs.
She joined forces with Safer Portsmouth Partnership of which the University is one of the partners, to launch One Punch Can Kill in Portsmouth last spring.
As part of One Punch Can Kill, Portsmouth City Council’s Health Improvement and Development Service will deliver an educational programme for young people to schools and colleges across the city. Portsmouth City Council’s Trading Standards team will also be training 80 bar/club staff in how to combat alcohol-fuelled violence.
