The University is preparing to pilot a migration from our email and calendar system – GroupWise – to a more highly available, lower-cost solution provided by Google called Gmail.
If the pilot is successful, Gmail will become a vital component of the University’s ongoing strategy of providing high-quality IT services anytime, anywhere, and will provide a state-of-the-art platform on which to base future IT developments for staff and students.
Members of staff from across campus, including each of the five faculties and several professional services, will be taking part in the pilot from March this year. The project team will be using the pilot as an opportunity to test the Gmail system and assess the most effective method of supporting staff throughout the transition from GroupWise.
