The University of Portsmouth has launched a new interactive news website.
‘UoP News’is a major step forward in how the university tells those both on and off campus, including the world’s media, about our research and our successes.
The website is written and edited by the University’s press and public relations and internal communications teams and the design is based on a blog site, allowing readers to view videos, post comments, ask questions and share content.
The site contains a wealth of information with an intuitive format allowing for fast, easy searching.
Journalists can search the directory of experts to find academics prepared to speak directly on their subjects of expertise, and download stock images and the latest University facts and figures brochure.
Staff in the media spotlight can access regularly updated media advice from anywhere in the world and answer readers’ questions on their research.
One of the primary aims of the new site is to allow the press and public relations team and the internal communications team to share the same platform, with information divided into sub-headings of research, international, student success, events, and news for staff and students. There is also a ‘news in brief’ column, and up to date information on where in the media news stories about the University have appeared.
Director of Marketing and Communications Peter Reader said: “The new UoP News site represents a major step forward in how we communicate our strengths and successes to those inside and outside the University.
“It is modern and interactive, allowing us to listen and respond, and provides a smooth, clean platform for communicating that is in line with professional news platforms.”

On the side you have Digg and stumbleupon, but you don’t have reddit? squeeze it in there!

Hi Enzo, thanks for the suggestion. The sharing bar is a standard template but we’ll look into whether we can add reddit…
