This is the third time the International Office has run the conference for agents who recruit students to the University. The objective is to showcase the campus and the University’s facilities, to enable the 62 visiting agents to meet key members of the academic and administrative staff involved in international and EU recruitment, and to showcase the city of Portsmouth, and show what it has to offer students.
The four days will include faculty visits, internal and external presentations, housing tours and a chance to meet with UoP staff and students. They will also include tours of Language Specialists International (LSI) and International College Portsmouth (ICP). For many agents this is their first visit to the UK, so walking tours and minibus tours of the city are on offer.
A dinner on board Portsmouth’s 150 year-old warship HMS Warrior is planned, with a choral performance from the International Fellowship of Christian Students (IFCS). A dinner at the top of the Spinnaker Tower will take place later in the week, at which Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Rebecca Bunting, will present awards including Agent of the Year and a series of special awards.
International Director, Joe Docherty, said, ‘We are delighted to be hosting this event again. It has been hugely successful in the past as we work very closely with all our agents across the world. Our agents are critical to our global marketing effort and they play a very important role in building our contacts, reputation and profile overseas.’
