Apple users have been relatively safe in the past. However this has now changed and infection of OSX (Apple) machines is a reality.
This is the advice from Sophos. OSX users need to :
- Apply OSX updates as soon as possible after they are released.
- Upgrade unsupported versions of OSX as a matter of priority. If you are running OSX version 10.6 or lower, you should get an upgrade now.
- If you are still running an Apple with a PowerPC chip inside, it is time for a new computer.
- Install an AV product. Remember that you are not allowed to connect a computer to the University network (including wireless and in halls) without AV protection.
