Following competitive tender and with effect from 1 August 2012, the main University insurers will be:
- Travel insurers – Chartis
- Property insurers – Zurich Municipal
- Employers and public liability insurers – Zurich Municipal
- Professional indemnity insurers – Royal and Sun Alliance
- Motor insurers – Zurich Municipal
Intention to award letters were issued on Monday 9 July 2012 but the University is required to allow a 10-day standstill period for unsuccessful bidders to consider any appeal against the process or to request further information regarding why their bid was not successful.
New insurance certificates will not be available until Friday 20 July 2012.
What information do you need if you travel abroad?
Members of staff or students travelling overseas on University business who leave the UK before 1 August 2012 will be covered under the existing travel insurance policy with Maven Underwriting for the duration of their trip. In the event of an emergency they should phone the existing 24-hour emergency assistance number: +44 0 20 7173 7797.
Travellers on University business leaving after 1 August 2012 will be covered under the new insurance policy with Chartis. Details of the new 24-hour emergency assistance number and policy number will be available after Monday 20 July 2012 at www.port.ac.uk/departments/services/finance/UniversityInsurancePages.
