A new term brings with it a fantastic new fitness class from the Department of Sport and Recreation.
EasyPEasy uses the fun bits we all remember from PE and combines them with the principles of interval training to provide a highly effective and enjoyable cardio workout.
A typical class will involve playing a mix of team games such as Handball and Dodgeball – using skills such as speed, footwork and spatial awareness. Individual games such as Tail Tag and Kings & Queens relying on endurance and evasion, alongside a smattering of sillier games like Duck Duck Goose and Steal the Bacon which emphasise acceleration and strategy.
There’s even a safe version of British Bulldog called Octopus Tag that’ll get you burning calories without getting you into detention!
The games are fully explained and change every few weeks and have been specifically designed so that all fitness abilities can participate equally. During a team game like Handball for example, players can decide whether to sit back and pass the ball around more or to run around full pelt trying to score goals.
This class is great if you want to try something new or you simply want your workout to be fun. Previous sessions have proved that you can burn up to 500 calories so don’t think it’s just for the light-hearted!
EasyPeasy is on Thursday lunchtimes at 1:05pm in the Spinnaker Sports Centre hall.
