2013 Research Development Fund (RDF) competition

Round one of the 2013 Research Development Fund (RDF) competition is now open. The RDF supports activities that build the University’s research capacity and profile, in line with our strategic research objectives.

Such activities could include building consortia, organising workshops or showcase events, generating pilot data or accessing research resources not available within the University. In 2012, awards were made to support 12 new projects, summaries of which are available on the web link below.

RDF awards of up to £25,000 will be made through a series of competitions.  Round one of the 2013 competition opened on 19 March, with an application deadline of 26 April 2013.

In a change to the specification, the 2013 competition will include ‘short-term sabbaticals’ (up to three months) as an eligible expense within the maximum limit of award. In the light of the experience gained during 2012, in which many submitted projects fell outside the scope of the RDF, you are strongly advised to discuss your application with your Associate Dean Research (ADR) prior to submission.
