If the sunshine has put you in a positive frame of mind and you’d like to tackle your smoking habit, then pop along to our Smoking Cessation clinics every Tuesday.
The Occupational Health Service has arranged with Pompey Quit, the local NHS stop smoking service, to provide smoking cessation advice on campus in the form of weekly drop in sessions.
Date: Every Tuesday
Time: 12.00pm – 1.00pm
Venue: Occupational Health, 3rd floor, Nuffield Centre
There is no need to book an appointment, just come along and speak to a specialist advisor will be able to offer advice and support on kicking the habit, up-to-date information around the many issues to do with smoking, treatment options, staying quit, top tips and how to support others. Pompey Quit are also able to provide smoking cessation treatments such as patches, so a visit to your GP may not be necessary.
Since the sessions began in February, five staff have quit smoking which has saved them £1,995 collectively (based on 20 cigarettes a day).

E cigs aren’t tested as health appliances and are unregulated. So although they don’t contain tobacco, there’s no guarantee of what you’re actually inhaling.

You sir, are an imbecile.
Fortunately the NHS exists for the benefit of everyone in the UK, not just people who (in your opinion) have made all the right decisions in life.
Lets add to this the fact that 77% of the cost of a packet of cigarettes goes to the treasury so I’m sure these people have amply covered the cost of this service themselves.
Finally we need to bear in mind that these people are now far less likely to require treatment for long term smoking related diseases such as COPD in the future, surely that represents a saving.
In summary, your comment is a bit stupid and you should probably refrain from trolling your employer’s intranet.
