A strategic management expert has been appointed the University of Portmouth Business School’s new Associate Dean of Innovation and Business Engagement.
David Smith said: “Although the economy and HE sector are facing uncertain times, in many ways there has never been a more opportune moment for universities to be engaging more actively with the business community, the public and the third sector.
“A University is a unique organisation that combines a wealth of expertise from areas such as business, technology, science and the creative industries – so utilising skills internally as well as facilitating business engagement externally is a challenge I am looking forward to.”
David gained 16 years industrial experience, encompassing international marketing, operations, strategic management and consultancy, before joining the Portsmouth Business School in 1996. His specialist research interests include exit strategies and strategic alliances.
He graduated in 1980 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Imperial College London, followed later by an MBA from Cardiff Business School.
