The brilliant young cellist, Gemma Rosefield, who recently made the critically acclaimed recording of Stanford’s concerto for Hyperion using the edition, will perform an extract accompanied by Anthony Groves at the piano. The publication will be available for inspection together with a copy of the original manuscript. Gemma’s recording will also be available. It should be a lovely occasion mixing good cheer and fine music!
. . .
As the event falls at the end of the working week, for those that wish to, there is also the opportunity to make an evening of it and to go on to dinner at Cafe Parisien followed by a concert at Portsmouth’s Third Floor Arts Centre (in Central Library) entitled “In a Paris Salon”. This will be a world-class concert, featuring Gemma in one of our country’s leading chamber groups, Ensemble 360, in a programme featuring the actress Maggie Steed.
We have negotiated a special £25 deal for dinner and the concert. Further information and tickets for the post-launch dinner and concert can be obtained in advance from Colin Jagger on 02392843013.
. . .
Everyone is welcome and George hope to see you at the launch.
