Media Production is the professional video production arm of the CCI Faculty. They undertake a range of commissions mostly from other departments within the University to produce educational, corporate and recruitment videos. The staff have considerable professional broadcast and corporate production experience.
They use industry standard equipment both in the studio and on location. They are a small unit and are often in need of help with crewing their production work. They are keen to provide students with long and short -term work experience.
They need enthusiastic and reliable people to fulfil a variety of roles. If you have some experience and knowledge it helps but it is not essential as they will also provide some on the job training. They need people who work well in a team. In particular they can provide roles for runners, camera assistants, sound assistants, floor managers, vision-mixers, production assistants, editing assistants and graphics assistants. You will be mentored and work as part of a professional team.
With some experience and the correct aptitude you can progress quickly to have more responsible roles as camera operators, sound recordists, editors, graphic designers, researchers, writers, producers and directors. In some cases there will provide paid opportunities.
There are times when they need one person other then when they need a whole crew. Some jobs will need people at short notice. Over the last 25 years they have provided many such opportunities to students. Many have gone onto to successful careers elsewhere some are still working for the University.
