Our Open Days are the best way to find out what it’s like to live and study in Portsmouth. There’s high demand for University Open Days are very popular with thousands of visitors each year. You need to book a place in advance, so we can send you helpful information on how to get the most out of your day.

For 2014 entry our University Open Days run from July to November 2013:

  • Wednesday 10 July, 2013
  • Saturday 13 July, 2013
  • Saturday 5 October, 2013
  • Saturday 19 October, 2013
  • Saturday 2 November, 2013

Before you apply

Come on one of our Open Days and get an insight into life at Portsmouth – see for yourself what we offer and get a taste of what it could be like to study here. You can tailor the day to suit your needs, picking what you want to see and when:

  • visit the department you are interested in and meet staff
  • take a tour of the city and the campus
  • chat to current students
  • visit halls of residence
  • meet student housing and finance advisers
  • tour our library and our sports facilities
  • visit the Students’ Union and much more!

After you apply

Once you’ve applied to Portsmouth and received an offer of a place, we’ll invite you to attend a Department Open Day. These differ from University Open Days – they’re subject-specific and led by academic departments. It is up to you as to whether you attend a University Open Day, Department Open Day - or both. Department Open Days offer:

  • department tours of facilities, studios, labs and lecture theatres
  • information about what you’ll study on the course including sample lectures
  • campus and city tours
  • a chance to meet current students from the department

Other visiting opportunities

Most of our Department Open Days for have now finished. You can still come and look around on our informal Visit Days on the following two dates:

  • Weds 22nd May 12-4pm
  • Weds 12th June 12-4pm

If you can’t make it to one of our scheduled Open Days you can download our free walking tour for a self-guided tour of the University. You can come on Monday - Friday between 8.30am and 4.00pm.

We have an open-door policy so you will be able to take a look into our buildings, speak to some of our support services and get a feel for the campus.

Postgraduate Information Days

Our Postgraduate Information Days for 2013 have now finished. Many of our academic tutors are still happy to meet with potential postgraduate students so use the department links on our course pages to find out who to contact for the course that interests you.

Portsmouth Business School postgraduate and part-time open evenings

We hold open events throughout the year at Portsmouth Business School for those interested in our part-time and postgraduate full-time courses. These events provide an opportunity for you to meet lecturers, current and past students and people such as yourself, who are considering the benefits of studying at one of the South's best business schools. School of Earth and Environmental Sciences

The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences provides an informal opportunity for prospective postgraduate students to see the range of University and Department facilities and discuss Master’s courses with members of academic staff. The next Earth and Environmental Sciences Open Day is Wednesday 5 June 2013.
